ACC Choir Camp

Arkansas Choral Connection, est. 1992

Both Mrs. Abernathy and Mr. Hill have been on faculty of ACC Choir Camp through the years. We want as many West singers to go to camp as possible! If you would like to talk about camp, we are more than happy to help! Ask Mr. Hill about possible camp scholarships provided by the BWHS Choir Parent Organization.

Arkansas Choral Connection, Inc. proudly presents a quality summer choral experience for students entering grade 7 through graduating 12th graders. ACC Summer Choir Camp features instruction from the finest choral conductors in Arkansas.

We invite you to be a part of the ultimate Choral Music Camp Experience. Established in 1992, ACC Choir Camp is now entering its 30th year of operation. Over 450 campers from around the state participated in 2019's choir camp. In addition to receiving intensive choral instruction, we offer campers opportunities to unwind with the daily assembly "Mail Call," free time and the featured Evening Activity. The University of Central Arkansas in Conway, AR has played host to ACC Choir Camp and it continues in 2022!

BWHS Student Interview

with Matteo Taylor

What does ACC mean to you?

"I entered ACC scared, frightened to sing out loud in front of people, and without a friend within 50 miles. This camp opened my eyes to so many experiences and people I never would’ve thought to try or meet. I formed friendships I’m sure will last, and it’s just about saved my life. ACC is a place where everyone is supported, and pushed to do their best. I developed my voice, confidence, and social life more in a week than I did in the entire school year before. I’m proud of what I accomplished there, and I think everyone should have the chance to experience it."

What advice would you give to someone going to ACC for the first time?

"If you’re going for the first time, be open to new experiences! Holding back gets you nowhere in a place where everyone welcomes you with open arms and open hearts. Talk to people! Tell them they did a good job! Audition for solos! Audition for ensembles! Do everything you’d be afraid to do and more. It’s a week. No matter what happens, it’s only a week!"

What is your favorite thing about ACC Choir Camp?

"My favorite thing about camp is the support system. You can barely know someone and they’ll be there for you, no matter what you’re going through. There’s someone for everyone there. Nobody will judge you if you sit to the side during the dance and just enjoy the music. Nobody will get angry if you bomb an audition. At ACC they celebrate and build confidence. And that’s a really really beautiful thing to be a part of."
